Mental Health Counselors located in
Gloversville, NY.
- Salary: $52K-$62K depending on experience
- Shift: Full-time position, work hours vary, hybrid schedule
The Mental Health Counselor reports directly to their Clinical Supervisor, under the scope of responsibility of the Clinical Director. The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for direct provision of individual psychotherapy for clients receiving services in an outpatient mental health clinic setting, licensed by the Office of Mental Health.

Responsibilities:
- Provide client centered, trauma-informed mental health services to our community population; this could include individual, family, and group therapy, assessment, triage, appropriate referrals, and crisis intervention.
- Operate within a multi-disciplinary treatment team, and collaborate with designated members of their clients’ team, both in-house and in the community where applicable
- Maintain the highest ethical standards of human service professionals regarding respect for the individual and confidentiality.
- Attend regularly scheduled supervision, Doctors Meeting, and Clinical Meeting
- Provide crisis, intake and hospitalization discharge duties as assigned.
- Participate in staff development activities to support professional growth and development.
- Follow agency Compliance Plan and Code of Ethics
- Support and participate in the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
Education & Experience:
- Master’s level Social Worker (MSW, LMSW, LCSW-R) or Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling (MHC or LMHC)
- 1+ years’ experience in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google and familiar with EMR systems
- Willingness to learn and follow clinic’s standards of practice
- Ability to connect with and provide support to a diverse client population
- Documentation skills, time management, organizational skills, decision making, listening, verbal communication, client service, building relationships, and discretion
