Douglas Gardens CMHC is a non-profit organization that has been providing comprehensive mental health services to the local community for over 40 years.

Immediate openings at residential facility in North Miami Beach for a full-time Mental Health Technician (MHT). The Mental Health Technician provides care and rehabilitation to mentally ill adults or older adults placed in the residential setting. MHT is responsible for providing support to residents in completing ADLs, following a daily structured routine, keeping appointments, and engaging in onsite group activities. Duties include observing the clients, reporting behavioral changes, providing personal care and social, educational and recreational group activities.

Schedule requires weekend work:

• AM Shift: 7:30am-4pm with rotating days off.
• Overnight Shift: 11:30pm-8:00am with rotating days off.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving history.
• Previous experience providing personal care, ADLs.
• This position requires the use of good communication and the ability to form positive relationships with residents and co-workers.
• Successfully complete background screening and drug screening.

Job Functions:

• Assist consumers in activities of daily living including showering, grooming, hygiene, daily attire and related activities.
• Assist in new consumer orientation.
• Follow all client-individualized plans established by the treatment team.
• Conduct weekly room checks to observe consumer housekeeping skills.
• Provide ongoing assistance with consumers’ laundry needs.
• Provide direct educational, recreational and activity services to consumers.
• Transport clients by safely driving company vehicle to appointments in the community or weekend outings.
• Conduct hourly rounds and report observations of client behaviors. Document observations.
• Demonstrate respectful behavior toward all clients.
