Night and weekend flexibility position in Microbiological Lab, Santa Maria, CA

INTRO TO PRIMUSLABS: For over three decades, PrimusLabs has been providing service to the fresh produce sector in food safety audits and food testing. We offer the most extensive range of microbiological testing services available to agricultural and other food industries. We test products produced both domestically and abroad. PrimusLabs is a private, independent laboratory comprised of multiple nationally recognized laboratories throughout North America.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a microbiological laboratory technician to join our team-oriented environment of food professionals. This individual will be responsible for various laboratory duties, including sample processing, media preparation, collection, data entry, and more.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Laboratory skills, including aseptic technique a plus, but not required
• Ability to multi-task & adapt to a changing fast-paced environment required
• Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Clean DMV record
• Flexible schedule with availability to work nights, weekends, and overtime
• Strong math skills
• Ability to lift 35 lbs.
• Self-motivated, with excellent work ethic
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
• Science background a plus
• Professional skills a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process incoming samples
• Accurately record detailed data
• Perform Quality Assurance (QA) checks of the lab
• Use of lab equipment (e.g. scales, autoclaves)
• Clean glassware, laboratory areas, and utensils
• Media preparation
• Perform pipetting and serial dilutions
• Retrieve samples from various locations, as needed
• All other duties assigned by management

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
