Primary Purpose:
Engineers, designs, and implements solutions to enhance NS owned microwave sites, leased microwave sites, transport network locations, and communication plant equipment. Supports maintenance and upgrades for microwave infrastructure which serves as the backbone for all communications, signal, or data facilities across the entire network.

Principal Duties:
- Supports ensuring compliance with local, state, FCC, FAA, and AAR regulations, counsels, advises, and makes recommendations on matters concerning Norfolk Southern's microwave and communications systems infrastructure. Oversees security management at microwave sites and serves as liaison between NS IT Security in support of cybersecurity policies.
- Perform Microwave Level 2 Support efforts to monitor, manage microwave network performance, and provide advance troubleshooting, triage, and trouble resolution to Microwave network. Oversees microwave and communications maintenance for over 100 technicians.
- Supports ensuring adherence to specification for tower maintenance, building repairs, or general system upgrades relative to NS's microwave network. Analyzes the annual tower inspection reports on each of the 450+ microwave towers and orders materials to facilitate any repair deemed necessary, coordinating each repair event with one of several service providers.
- Develops and implements uniform maintenance standards for microwave equipment, analog and digital multiplex, very high frequency (VHF), and ultra-high frequency (UHF) radios for dispatcher use and code line systems, data modems, routers, frame relay access devices, video conferencing equipment, packet switching, and private branch exchange (PBX) connections.
- Perform Capital Project Management, Contractor and Vendor Management (Requisition material, coordinate installation, Track progress) Assist customers to ensure efficient working of microwave project
- Support Outside Plant with Public Projects review and route analysis for aerial, underground fiber, and other communications assets to determine potential conflicts
- Perform database management within Remedy for Microwave site inspections, NS utilities and required services related to Microwave, PTC, and IT Transport network. Liaison between IT and C&S for Network projects, Security, and Escalation/Planned maintenance outages
