Mid-level Designer
Job description
Phasor Engineering is seeking an Mid-level Designer to join its Engineering Design team in Winter Garden, FL. In this position, you will provide drafting and technical guidance and support for substation and other electric utility projects.
As an integral member of the Phasor Engineering team, this position provides an opportunity to contribute your drafting / design expertise to a wide range of projects.
We are a small boutique firm that specializes in electrical engineering. We concentrate on power systems associated with electric utilities, industrial and commercial facilities / systems.
Technical Role / Responsibilities
- Supports the Design Team to establish and maintain engineering quality for all assigned projects
- Prepare drawings as directed by the Lead Designer with attention to detail, aesthetics, accuracy, and elegant solutions
- Use CAD Software to create detailed 2D / 3D designs for complex projects
- Ability to analyze data and develop creative solutions
- Support preparation of, or prepares drawings and specific type of equipment and materials to be used, in construction and equipment installation
- Prepare electrical power systems equipment bills of material
- Review vendor / manufacturer information
- Capture and organize electrical data for power system analysis
- Prepare engineered drawings
- Ensure accuracy / attention to detail
- Maintain continuity throughout project
- Prepare and maintain Company CAD / drafting standards
Communication / Coordination:
- Responsible for communicating with Project Engineers to maintain a clear / concise understanding of projects and daily business
- Responsible for coordinating all aspects of production, design, and computer assisted design for assigned projects
· Basic Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Computer Assisted Design or Bachelor’s in engineering
- 2 – 4 years of practical substation / relay CAD experience
- 5+ years of CAD experience
- MS Office competency
- Excellent speaking, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
- Firm grasp of basic mathematics
- Some travel may be required
- Skilled at interpreting technical documents and engineered drawings. Skilled at the concepts of technical drawing production.
- Understands basic concepts of AutoCAD commands and drafting techniques. Ability to expand drafting skills and CAD knowledge.
- Ability to use Inventor and / or Substation Designer Suite (SDS) at a basic level and skilled at Redline procedures and drawing corrections.
- Ability to read and produce basic electrical drawings / schematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the utility industry
- Experience in substation design
- Certified in AutoCAD, Substation Designer Suite (SDS) or Inventor

Pay: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
