Summary
Develops and executes a strategic business development plan, for community and minority business relationships. Creates and implements effective communication tools to cultivate a collaborative vision of diversity.
Essential Functions
Community Relations
- Represents Balfour Beatty in the community in a way that conveys the mission and values of our Company.
- Screens requests for financial support of minority community organizations and prioritizes
Subcontractors/Vendors
- Evaluates, qualifies, and assists with the pursuit of new business opportunities, working with small business partners, and minority subcontractors pursue new contract sales. Develops and negotiates strategic partnerships with minority and disadvantaged business
- Provides advice and clarity to minority business goals and Ensures these goals are achieved.
- Identifies small emerging businesses in our business operation
Talent Responsibilities
- Researches and develops best practices in diversity initiatives and use those findings to inform decisions.
- Develop and deliver diversity communication strategies for employees, particularly during town halls , road shows , and new hire
- Develops programs to promote diversity and assess the outcomes of those initiatives with a particular focus on recruitment and retention.
- Identifies resources and develops partnerships with schools to source diverse talent in partnership particularly for targeted positions. Participate in career fairs at minority
- Collaborates with Human Resources to provide and communicate retention and development opportunities for diverse employees. Increase the number of new hire minorities by % on a yearly basis.
- Act as a coach and mentor to minority employees. Provide a company connection and onboarding assistance to newly hired minorities. Communicates with existing employees to develop and maintain
- Participate in cross-functional teams responsible to represent and promote diversity
Promote Customer Relations
- Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer s

Education, Experience, and Knowledge
- BS in Business/Marketing/Communications or a related field preferred with 3 to 5 years of related experience preferred, or 7+ years of professional experience
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and cooperation are
- Experience operating and or negotiating subcontracting agreements and teaming
- Makes decisions under tight deadlines, occasionally in the face of incomplete
- Demonstrates leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, delegate and provide direction to others, and effectively address
