English is looking for a Mohs Histotech to join our team in Desert Ridge, CA.

Position purpose

The Mohs Histotech's main responsibility is to perform all functions in the histology lab to include embedding, microtomy, staining, and filing.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

• Prepare and collect path/lab specimens.
• Fulfill responsibilities as assigned by providers and management.
• Support the diagnostic evaluation of tissue by histological procedures.
• Perform histological duties within the guidelines established by histology and MOHS laboratory.
• Perform a variety of specialized histopathological procedures.
• High Complexity Testing includes: Receiving fresh unfixed specimen at time of tissue removal, mapping, grossing, sectioning of specimen, ink application, relax cuts and scoring of tissue as needed.
• Non-High Complexity Testing includes: Embedding, cryotomy, staining and cover slipping.
• Immunohistochemistry staining.
• File slides, block and paperwork in alpha-numeric order.
• Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education: Prior histology experience, specifically in dermatology.

Experience: Prior dermatology office experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in histology preferred.

Other Requirements: Must be proficient in the following areas: Embedding, Microtomy, Routine Staining, Special Staining/immunohistochemistry, Equipment quality control.

Performance Requirements:

• Must be proficient in histology.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general Mohs procedures and treatment.
• Quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledgeable of medical dermatology terms/CPT, ICD-10.
• Professional in appearance and mannerisms.
• Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients and co-workers alike.
• Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider’s instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.
