You will be trusted to:

At an intermediate level, plans, develops, coordinates and implements a variety of natural resource programs in one or more of the following areas: land management, fish and wildlife, forestation and/or soil and water conservation. Activities may include prescribed burning. Gathers and analyzes environmental data to direct projects and programs to a preferred outcome. This position utilizes knowledge and experience in own discipline but is still building higher-level knowledge and skills. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment to determine an appropriate approach within general parameters and some guidance from supervisor, manager and/or more experienced colleagues.

• Performs moderately complex site assessments, gathers data and develops land and wildlife
  management plans for LCRA lands, including lands with endangered species habitat
• Monitors specific locations for landscape/ecosystem problems (exotic and invasive vegetation, nuisance wildlife, oak wilt, etc...).
• Develops and implements plans to address the identified problems using a variety of best management practices.
• Develops contract specifications for service providers and provides information to supply management for contract negotiation.
• Monitors contracts for compliance.
• Gathers data, performs technical analysis and maintains documentation in a natural resource database of LCRA lands.
• Provides consultation and services to other departments and across LCRA related to complex natural resource matters.
• Develops and implements educational outreach and demonstration programs on a variety of natural resource issues and best management practices.
• Develops formal land management plans for soil and water conservation projects on private lands with landowners, local soil and water conservation districts and the U.S.D.A. Natural Resources Conservation Services and assists landowners with implementation.
• Coordinates with agencies, regulatory and non-regulatory, as necessary and may represent LCRA on various multi-agency committees.
• Initiates entrepreneurial opportunities to maintain and expand natural resource programs. Identifies opportunities for obtaining grants, donations, contributions and other means of leveraging resources (financial, human, equipment, etc).
• Performs work by traveling independently to various LCRA locations as needed.

You qualify with:

• Six or more years of experience in natural resource management or relevant experience.
• A degree(s) in agriculture, natural resource management, range management, wildlife management or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
• Driver's license
• For incumbents who volunteer to participate in prescribed burning activities: NWCG Single Resource Boss Qualification or higher.
• Class A Texas commercial driver’s license or equivalent from another state, for incumbents performing heavy equipment operation.
