Position Summary:

The position will provide support for flexible metal piping products (bellows, expansion joints, hoses) being sold into the Aerospace and General Industries. The Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Level II Inspection team at is an inclusive, inter-disciplinary team that is committed to providing high quality inspections of flight components and production assemblies. The breadth of exposure as an NDE Level III Inspector is immense, as the organization is responsible for a broad range of inspection types across various space flight programs. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to perform internal and external weld inspections to ensure compliance to customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide training and testing to Level I and Level II
  • Develop, review, and approve NDT techniques with Level II and Engineering personnel.
  • Write, review, and approve specifications pertinent to NDT.
  • Support review boards for inspection criteria and inspection capabilities for products.
  • Prepare NDT for customer and internal audits.
  • Develop and Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action investigations and reviews on audit/non-conforming report (NCR) findings.
  • Maintain own Level III certifications.
  • Participate in the direction of the NDT department.
  • Audit and surveillance of quality systems and processes
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate by management.

Basic Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in NDT Inspection/Quality/Manufacturing
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of NDT inspection techniques and equipment along with a working knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation is required.
  • Knowledge of industry NDT standards (ex. NAS410, ASTM 1742, ASTM 1417, ASTM 1444, AMS-STD-2154, etc...)
  • Non-Destructive Evaluation Level II certification in line with ASNT TC-1A/NAS-410 guidance in radiography (RT)
  • 2+ years of experience as a Level II non-destructive evaluation/testing inspector/digital radiography
  • Experience with sheet metal forming, tube bending, and welding of stainless steels and nickel alloys strongly preferred.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Certifications: The ideal candidate would have multiple Level 3 certifications; RT, UT and FPI preferred. At least one Level 2 certification is required.
  • Radiation safety training/certification with IRRSP X-ray card
  • Knowledge of AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM
  • Computed or direct digital certification
  • Operational experience of utilizing digital radiography systems
  • NDE level II certification in line with ASNT-TC-1A guidance in dye penetrant (PT) and visual inspection (VT)
  • AS9100 and Internal auditing experience/certification desired
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Experience operating computed panels, scanners and direct digital panels.
  • Experience inspecting advanced materials such as high strength aluminum alloys, precipitation hardened steels, Inconel, titanium and maraging steel (super alloys)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Good organization skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize with minimal supervision.
