Job description
- The Billing Specialist is responsible for the prompt and accurate submission of claims and processing of payments in accordance with company procedures, State, and federal regulations.
- Create, clean and submit claims via software and work claim rejections
- Prepare, review, and transmit claims and claim corrections using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
- Responsible to understand prior authorization requirements and dates.
- Provide all necessary documentation required to expedite claim processing and payments.
- Coordinates with inter-departmental associates to obtain appropriate documentation as needed for billing
- Communicates with supervisor on a daily and/or weekly basis regarding any outstanding claims issues related to system, authorizations or other
- Conducts frequent phone contact with provider representatives.
- Verifies that payments received are correct and that claims are processed correctly against billing and industry standards and regulations and match our contract
- Follows up on reimbursement research and communications and required appeals in an efficient an timely manner
- Contact other departments or funders to resolve challenges. Make decisions or get approvals regarding questionable or unusual circumstances. Issue reports as needed or directed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR BILLING SPECIALIST:
- Minimum of 3-5 years billing experience
- Solid technical skills in Word and Excel, and knowledge of accounting management software
- Hours of work: Monday to Friday (8:30am-5:00pm)
