JOB SUMMARY


Responsible for the supervision of a team of North America Deduction Specialists for the start-to-finish resolution of all McCain claims. Assist the Manager in the administration of all McCain policies and procedures with regard to the timely settlement of claims (deduction and payment) requests. Compile and track customer claims within the McCain systems. Engage with McCain Sales personnel, brokers, finance team, pricing team, and customers to validate all claims in accordance with established promotions and policies. Ensure all invalid claims are rebilled in a timely manner and manage their collection and/or resolution. Escalate risks and opportunities and provide solutions to both internal and external partners.


Support staff in achieving and sustaining the prescribed KPI metrics. Provide coaching, mentoring, and skill set development to the trade claims team. Communicate expectations and provide feedback in a timely manner.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)

  • Supervise a team of Deduction Specialists in the identification, research and resolution of outstanding foodservice and retail claims.
  • Set team and individual performance goals to drive business results as prescribed by McCain Foods objectives and policies.
  • Complete employee performance appraisals and handle all personnel issues for assigned direct reports. Train new Deductions Specialist on all McCain processes and information systems relevant to resolving outstanding claims.
  • Provide coaching, skill set development, and subject matter expertise to the Deductions Specialist and Leads in support of the operational procedures related to deduction management and trade settlement.
  • Identify and analyze claim trends proactively, recognize “root causes” of issues, and assist management in creating and implementing corrective actions to reduce future deductions.
  • Perform regular reviews and audits of closed claim files to ensure that all McCain claim resolution procedures are adhered to and all trade spending is accurately reflected in the McCain accounting records.
  • Engage the appropriate McCain cross-functional business partners in the communication and escalation of areas of opportunities to ensure that all claims are reviewed, validated, and settled within prescribed guidelines. Actively participate in collaborative problem solving and issue resolution.
  • Identify, document, and communicate guidelines to simplify processes and take proactive approaches, offering solutions, and recommendations for improved processes.
  • Leverage technology to seek automation and streamlining opportunities of financial reporting and processes.
  • Develop reports/analytical tools to enhance current processes, drive issue resolution, and facilitate communication.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen and big picture understanding of departmental responsibilities by identifying critical information and its potential impacts on the business.
  • Exhibit advanced efficiencies in all seven core competencies.
  • Support and champion team and organizational initiative to address focus areas as prescribed by the annual Pulse Survey.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or Economics (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • 5+ years of business experience, 3+ in an analytical role, with 2+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in deductions or credit and collections.
  • Strong organizational, process development, and implementation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills. Proficiency in Excel required.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Vistex, MicroStrategy, PROS, and High Radius preferred.
  • Ability to independently set appropriate priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in and be an active participant in a team environment.
  • Ability to coach, train, motivate, and interact cross functionally.
  • Knowledge of deductions, trade spending, promotion management, and sales reporting systems and processes, preferably in the Foodservice and/or Retail Industry a plus.
