Northeast Wisconsin Invasives Partnership (NEWIP) Coordinator

Position Location: Golden Sands RC&D’s main office is located in Stevens Point. This position offers the opportunity to work in the office and remotely within the program area.

Compensation: $17 - $18 per hour commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule: 35 - 40 hours per week

Position Description: In support of Golden Sands RC&D’s mission to manage natural and human resources in ways consistent with sound conservation principles by working across county lines to address local concerns, the Northeast Wisconsin Invasives Partnership (NEWIP) Coordinator is responsible for projects within Golden Sands RC&D’s 13-county region with a focus on work within NEWIP’s region of Brown County, Outagamie County, Waupaca County, Winnebago County, and the Oneida Nation. The NEWIP coordinator will work with the implementation of the Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP), the Demonstration Forest program, and the inventory and control of invasive species.

Duties:

• Communicate with project partners and Golden Sands RC&D team members to effectively complete project goals.
• Communicate with members of NEWIP and carry out the goals and objectives of the Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA).
• Become familiar with Wisconsin’s Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP), the benefits it can have for private landowners, and the sign-up process.
• Reach out to landowners within Golden Sands RC&D’s service area via phone calls and/or emails to gauge interest in the DMAP program and encourage collaboration between neighboring landowners.
• Host virtual and in-person DMAP meetings for private landowners.
• Become familiar with Golden Sands RC&D’s Demonstration Forest program.
• Hold Demonstration Forest Days by collaborating with the Demonstration Forest landowners.
• Help locate landowners and public properties to enroll in the Demonstration Forest program.
• Inventory and control forestry invasive species using best management practices.
• Track completed deliverables and objectives.
• Assist with grant reporting.

Required Skills:

• Strong plant identification skills, especially invasive plants.
• Strong knowledge of invasive plant control methods.
• Strong knowledge of forest management practices.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with landowners and groups with a focus on

understanding their goals and objectives for their property.

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and with diverse clientele.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors in a remote-work setting.
• Strong commitment to quality customer service with landowners and partners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Pesticide applicators license - preferred but not required. (May apply after employment.)
• Valid driver’s license required; some use of personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursement

provided).

Education Requirement: Bachelor degree in natural resource management, botany, forestry, or a related natural resources field or a combination of education and experience.
