Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Analytical Laboratory group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Nuclear Radiochemist.
Responsibilities Include:
The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking applicants for a position as a Nuclear Radiochemist to work in the Analytical Research Laboratory (ARL).
The Analytical Laboratory (AL) is uniquely connected to a range of nuclear research activities throughout the INL, the nation, and the world. As a Nuclear Radiochemist in the AL, you will interact with a team of highly motivated scientists working every day to accomplish the INL’s mission of securing our energy future through the characterization of nuclear fuels using world-class instrumentation and techniques. - Develop proficiency in the analysis and interpretation of radiochemical data from nuclear samples.
- Conduct research to advance new capabilities for interpreting radiochemical data from nuclear samples.
- Design and participate in experiments to acquire data that will test new research concepts.
- Work independently on complex technical tasks requiring in-depth data analysis and develop unique technical solutions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers.
- Communicate results to internal and external sponsors via written technical reports and oral presentations.
- Write research proposals to gain new funding for projects from sponsors.
- Ability to travel on an occasional basis and interact / collaborate with colleagues in conference or training settings.
Minimum Requirements:
- PR2/3: Master’s degree or higher in chemistry, physics, or related field and 1-3 years’ relevant experience. Relevant experience includes in academia, private industry or nuclear
- Must be a US Citizen and have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a L clearance
- Demonstrated ability to design and lead independent research projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Facilitate teamwork and camaraderie throughout the Laboratory
- Communicate effectively with AL Management and Technical Leadership
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a diverse team environment

- Demonstrated relevant publication record

- Salary Grade: 200 ($81,288 - $134,100) / 210 ($93,492 - $154,212)
