SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing health care and first aid to students and staff and carrying out all the functions of the district’s health services as designated by the Certified School Nurse (CSN). The nurse in this position performs health services in compliance with nursing standards. The performance requirements of this position include communicating effectively with parents, physicians, staff, and community agencies to promote health, safety and the wellness of the student and staff. This individual will assist in promoting an environment that provides the opportunity for the student and staff to acquire the knowledge, skills, and character to become a productive citizen. The incumbent works with other members of the Department in meeting department goals and objectives in support of the ELANCO mission to provide a social and educational environment for the students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds and provides medical treatment with any emergency, first level of triage, and communicating with building administration and/or district office administration about the medical situation (if necessary).- Provides first aid and health care to students and

SCOPE AND IMPACT

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a PA nursing license, RN or LPN and related health room experience and/or training.
Other Qualifications:
- Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code).
- Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- Applicants for employment are required to obtain an FBI Criminal History Record Act 114
- Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994.
Such alternatives to these other qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Position requires the following skills: prepare and administer medications to include oral, rectal, injection and nebulizer; give treatments, such as nebulizer, blood sugar testing, vital signs, blood pressures and temperatures; perform screenings such as vision testing, hearing testing and scoliosis screening; demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft suite of office products, FileMaker and other software; be highly organized; possess excellent communication skills; be highly confidential at all times; act as a team player; be flexible to work on multiple tasks; pay attention to detail; perform basic math; able to learn new skills; read and interpret periodicals, journals and regulations; maintain composure at all times and deal with constant change. Requires current CPR certification and ADR certification a plus.
