This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego.

Children’s Specialists of San Diego (CSSD) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, advanced practice providers, and student body. We are seeking both nurse practitioners and physician assistants to join the Division of Emergency Medicine in the Department of Urgent Care (UC).

Rady Children's Hospital San Diego (RCHSD), a 377-bed level 1 Trauma Center, is the major regional primary and tertiary pediatric hospital and is the clinical home of UCSD Department of Pediatrics. The Emergency Division has a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching and research. The Urgent Cares consist of 6 locations around the county of San Diego and the surrounding areas. The Urgent Care Department holds a close relationship with RCHSD Emergency Department located at the Rady Children’s Hospital Main Campus.

Please note that this position may be needed to work at any of our UC sites including coverage for sick call-ins and patient volume surges. This position may also require traveling during the shift to multiple locations.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA) JOB SUMMARY:

This position is accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician. Functions dependently in a staff position, implementing the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within a specialized area of patient care. Performs within the scope of licensures and in accordance with hospital policies. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs.

PA MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree as a Physician Assistant from an accredited program

Current California Physician Assistant license

1 year of PA experience

Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA

Furnishing number, State of California (w/in 1 year of employment)

Current DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications

Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier) Must obtain within 6 months of employment

Certification: Physician Assistant, National Commission (w/in 1 year of employment)

Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services

Successfully completes the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division

PA PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

2 years of PA experience in an Urgent Care or ED

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills

Bilingual Skills desired


NURSE PRACTITIONER (NP) JOB SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education children and families in clinical, school, and in-home settings. The Nurse Practitioner functions as a primary care provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher and consultant and works with supervision of a physician. The Nurse Practitioner supports the philosophies of the department of nursing as well as the medical staff.

NP MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Nursing

Current California Nurse Practitioner license

1 year of NP experience

Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA

Furnishing number, State of California (w/in 1 year of employment)

The expected hiring range for this position is $64.36 to $72.41 for benefitted positions.
