Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for our Claysburg Family Practice. The CNA performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of the operations of the office.

Essential Functions:

Performs EKG testing and phlebotomy for patients as directed.
Assists with provision of testing/vaccines (e.g., Mantoux, flu vaccine) to appropriate persons (e.g., Nason staff, contracted providers, other OH clients).
Maintains patient care equipment, reports malfunctions and requisitions service appropriately.
Promptly answers patient/staff requests and fulfills appropriate staff to respond to need as soon as possible.
Provides courier and other supportive services for other departments as applicable.
Regularly reports complaints of patients, visitors, and physicians.
Serves as a receptionist for incoming patients and visitors.
Offers assistance and provides direction to visitors, patients and families in a concise, informative manner and demonstrates a courteous and positive attitude.
Introduces self and greets others in a pleasant manner.
Answers all telephone inquiries in a professional manner, identifying yourself and the department at the beginning of the call.
Consistently responds to others in a helpful, caring and timely manner, especially in times of increased patient activities or short staffing situations.
Keeps staff informed of whereabouts when leaving unit and returns promptly from errands, breaks and meals.
Uses appropriate lines of authority within the organizational structure.
When requested, demonstrates the ability to present self in a professional manner when assisting with community service programs.
Uses supplies efficiently and with regard to both effectiveness and cost.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Observes departmental/hospital dress codes, is clean and well-groomed, wears identification badge and maintains a professional appearance while on-duty.

Complies with corporate compliance guidelines and requirements of Federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Provides services consistent with Hospital standards and participates in the Hospital's Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
Promotes appropriate customer service skills (e.g. patience, compassion, empathy, helpfulness, sensitivity) in dealing with patients, families, employees, and other customers.
Demonstrates good communication skills in interactions with patients, families, physicians, Hospital staff and other customers.
Treats all patients as individuals with consideration to their rights, cultural, diversity, privacy, comfort and emotional needs.
Reports for work on time and is punctual for patient report at the start of the assigned shift, even in cases of inclement weather.
Recognizes own limitations and appropriately seeks help or guidance when needed.
Attends/completes mandatory in-service and training and scheduled and complies with employee health policies in a timely manner (e.g. TB testing).
Handles confidential information in strict conformance with departmental/Hospital policies.
Managers conflict and frustration in a positive and constructive manner and accepts constructive criticism regarding own judgments or actions.
Demonstrates understanding of hospital infection control procedures and utilizes appropriate hand washing and universal precautions at all times.
Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with others. Uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers.
Maintains a good working relationship with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers and other members of the healthcare team through responsiveness, accuracy of information and professionalism.
Performs duties in a self-directed and cooperative manner with minimum need for supervision. Uses time constructively, keeps outside interruptions to a minimum and organizes assignments for maximum productivity.
Demonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected change in workload, emergencies, staffing and scheduling changes without interference with patient care/service.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Education

Certified Nurse Assistant required.

Minimum Work Experience

One year of healthcare experience preferred (e.g., medical office, phlebotomy).

Experience with use of computers, copiers, faxes, and other clerical duties.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and reflects kindness, understanding, respect, good humor and/or ability to relate positively with patients, families, and co-workers.

Certifications

BLS certification and/or successful completion within 3 months.
