Job description
Job responsibilities include:
- Apply laws, regulations, rules, and protocols that have been established by the state or federal government.
- Decisions are made in conjunction with interdisciplinary team members or independently.
- Involves completion of survey reports.
- Must pass the Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) within 2 years of hire.

About the Division of Health Service Regulation and the Nursing Home Licensure and Certification Section:
The Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) provides for the health, safety and well-being of individuals through effective regulatory and remedial activities including appropriate consultation and training opportunities and by improving access to health care delivery systems through the rational allocation of needed facilities and services.
The Nursing Home Licensure & Certification Section provides regulatory services to nursing home providers so that they can improve the quality of services they deliver through regulatory compliance; resulting ultimately in safe quality care, quality of life, and safety of residents and citizens who utilize nursing home services.

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following:
- Strong clinical background, including assessment, care planning and delivery of care.
- Basic knowledge of state and federal requirements.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions and use the information to make decisions.
- Intermediate computer skills (Windows, MS Office Products, flash drive, data management using folders, import and export functions and the ability to master new technology and complete work electronically).
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Good organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to compose technical reports using good grammar.
- Ability to adapt to schedule changes and be willing to travel on short notice.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Standing/Walking/Lifting/Fingering/Talking/Hearing/Smelling.
- Ability to lift their own luggage (20 - 50 pounds).
- Must have close visual acuity.
- Registered and licensed dietitians.
- Residence in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Robeson, Sampson, or Scotland counties.
Generalist -
Bachelor's degree in a health, human service, or educational related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years' experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Social Work -
Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field;
-OR-
Bachelor s degree, in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years' experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Dietetics -
Bachelor's degree in nutrition or food service management from an appropriately accredited institution and three years' experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field, eligible for registration from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
