  • UCSF Affiliate - MarinHealth collaborates with UCSF in two ways: (1) Through our hospital partnership with MarinHealth Medical Center, (2) Through our expansive network of MarinHealth/UCSF Health clinics. These clinics deliver a wide range of primary and specialty care, from pediatrics and OB-GYN to rheumatology, cardiology and urology.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an occupational Therapy curriculum that is approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association, The World Federation of Occupational Therapy or another nationally recognized accrediting agency.

EXPERIENCE:

One year inpatient acute hospital experience as a certified Occupational Therapist (preferred).

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current valid license in Occupational Therapy from the California Board
  • Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP) within 90 days of hire.
  • Current, valid certification (or proof of eligibility) by the National Board of Certification in • Occupational Therapy. For individuals not yet certified, attainment of certification is required within 6 months of hire.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Billable patient contact of at least 67%.

2. Perform evaluation of functional performance of inpatients and establishes a plan of treatment consistent with occupational therapy Scope of Practice, involving the patient and his/her family in the design, goals and plan of treatment

3. Evaluates effectiveness and outcomes of occupational therapy interventions including the patient’s and family’s response to therapeutic interventions

4. Works proactively with health care team (nursing, dietary, PT, speech pathology, physicians, etc) to continually assess patient’s discharge planning needs and ensure timely discharge of patient

5. Functions independently in performing occupational therapy treatments, which may include, but are not limited to, retraining in self-care, neuro re-education, functional mobility, upper extremity function, home safety, splinting and visual-perception, cognitive retraining activities

6. Identifies a patient and significant other’s specific learning needs and plans appropriate teaching interventions

7. Attend staff meetings and in-services as appropriate

8. Provide information to Occupational Therapy Supervisor about complicated patient situations.
