Job Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant – Hand Therapy
Department: Physical & Hand Therapy
Responsible to: Physical & Hand Therapy Manager
Hours: 40 hours/week, 8 or 10 hours/day
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4×10 or 5×8
Pay Range: $25.82 – 38.72

Job Summary: Provide patient care under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. Follow the plan of care set by the occupational therapist, implementing effective therapeutic interventions based on ongoing assessment, sound judgment, and psychological sensitivity. Utilize current standards of practice and follow departmental policies and procedures. Comply with applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements governing scope of practice. Maintain a high level of professional expertise and assume responsibility for professional growth and development. This position requires proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at time of offer.

Education & License Requirements: Current licensure in the State of Oregon as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Must have valid CPR card.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience: Two years of experience in an outpatient orthopedic setting preferred with hand therapy experience. Desired skills include: Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for occupational therapy assistants. Use of experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Must cooperate and work well with other members of an interdisciplinary team. Must be able to communicate tactfully and effectively with patients and staff.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implement treatment programs and rehabilitative activities to reduce pain and improve mobility in accordance with therapist’s plan of care.
  • Provide exercise instruction and demonstration to patients.
  • Review patient progress and modify prescribed treatment plan to meet patient needs per requirements and under therapist direction.
  • Observe, note, and report on progress of long- and short-term treatment goals.
  • Prepare accurate EMR documentation of patient diagnostic, treatment, and care activities that comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Answer phones, triage calls, and schedule appointments.
  • Greet patients and provide customer service that supports a high-quality patient experience.
  • Perform general office duties and computer use.
  • Operate and trouble shoot office equipment.

Marginal Job Functions: Move furniture, equipment, and supplies. Light mechanics, instrument maintenance.
