Job description
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the role of Office Assistant 3 for the Airway Heights Corrections Center located just outside Spokane, WA. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday with a day shift schedule.
The Office Assistant 3 supports health records functions and works independently in concert with staff to perform essential duties associated with the Health Services Unit records systems.
A completed application packet will include:
A detailed resume- A cover letter
- Three professional references
- Filing of Health Records and Medical Documents.
- Thinning Health Records.
- Merge charts/overflow for released offenders.
- Check Health Records
- Using the facilities departure manifest and OMNI screens track patients transferring or releasing from Health Services.
- Prepare and process incoming chain of health records. Check to see that a chart is received for each offender.
- Prepare and process outgoing chain health records. Ensure the correct charts/overflow are being sent.
- OMNI "chrono" entries.
- Patient access to review their own health information is unlimited, except for specific information designated by the healthcare provider that might be injurious to the patient's health.
- The patient must submit the requests in writing. Upon receiving a written request by the patient to review a health record, respond to the request within fifteen (15) working days either to schedule a review time or to notify the patent that the information does not exist or access is denied.
- Review the health record prior to review by the patient. Remove any specific injurious information as noted by the healthcare provider from the health record before review by the patient. DOC 13-310 Denial of Disclosure of Health Records must be completed for any information withheld from the patient.
Required Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Two years of clerical and/or forms and records management experience.
- Possess knowledge, skills, and ability to perform all required job functions.
- Willingness to walk, sit, and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend, reach, and/or lift as necessary to perform required tasks.
- Demonstrate the ability to read, write, and review documents for spelling, punctuation and/or grammatical errors and accurately correct these documents.

- Salary is based on experience and is determined at the time a final offer of employment is made. The salary range listed in the job posting includes Steps A-M. Step M is a longevity step and is typically gained six years after being assigned to Step L in your permanent salary range.
