Job description
Press feeder position supports press operator in getting paper and constantly feeding the press with raw material as needed per job requirements. Also assisting press operator with hanging plates, filling ink fountains, performing general cleaning and assist in end of run/shift inspections. Press Feeder will also perform preventive maintenance tasks given by press operator.
Requirements:
Duties/Responsibilities
- Retrieve and prepare pallets of paper required per job specifications.
- Scan pallet tags into tracking software (Radius)
- Retrieve inks, coatings, and tooling required per job specifications.
- Assist press operator during make ready, hang plates, fill ink fountains and other assigned work.
- Run the feeding section of the press and follow direction given by press operator.
- Complete end of run and shift end inspections, washup ink stations, replenish fountain solution and general cleaning.
- Assist in general preventive maintenance.
- Ability to stay organized, and work under pressure.
- Work effectively and respectfully with other departments and co-workers
- Willingness to work overtime and maintain good attendance.
- Follow and exercise a safe work environment.
- Follow all procedures and processes.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Perform other tasks given by manager.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, G.E.D or work experience
- Basic computer skills (navigating through programs)
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Ability to read and use a ruler.
- Knowledge and understanding of sheetfed folding cartons or printing processes is a plus.
- Willing to train the right person.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to perform this position's essential functions successfully. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to twist, bend, and stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. In addition, the employee must be able to lift 25lbs to 75lbs on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
