Older Adult Center Program Coordinator
Job description
- Develop, coordinate and implement a wide variety of daily Older Adult Center programs and activities, including monitoring attendance, and providing online technical support for hybrid classes
- Arrange for program instructors and guest speakers in areas of Health
- Promotion and Health Education, Arts/Music, Educations and Recreation
- Coordinate a variety of special events programs for center members including scheduling, booking, and overseeing event planning
- Work with the Case Management Supervisor to identify presentations in the area of Benefits and Entitlements, Housing and Mental Health Services
- Responsible for ensuring programs mandated by DFTA such as 6 nutritional in-services and 5 evidenced based programs are implemented yearly
- Work with the Director to develop monthly calendar of diverse recreational, social, cultural, educational, multi- intergenerational and other program activities including trips and outings
- Supervise all activity consultants, ensuring all program staff certifications are up to date and contracts for services signed
- Maintain statistical records of program attendance to assist Director of Senior Center with grant and resource development
- Work with members to support programing, client complaints and recommendations
- Update weekly digital newsletter, ensuring that the information is accurate and complete before sending it to members
- Updating members of program changes, closings and holiday events
- Supervising registration of events and collection of donations from members.

- Demonstrated capability to conduct one’s self in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or with difficult situations
- Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers
- Working with our Program Directors to create and bring to life a vision for an intentional integration of arts, culture and physical health exercise to our existing older adult programs. This involves both planning with the program directors, overseeing the safety and quality of our programs.
- Tracking participant engagement and identifying trends within and across programs.
- Assess the needs and desires of our community members, identify long-term and short-term program goals and outputs, execute well-planned programs and activities, and implement ongoing improvements in wellness and enrichment programs/activities.
- Ensuring alignment of program goals with Y values and communication of key messages.
- Develop evaluation processes to ensure programs remain relevant, innovative, integrated, and evolving from year to year.
- Ensure compliance of all programs with government standards and programmatic requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA minimum
- Passion and experience in working with diverse older adults
- A team player who brings enthusiasm and a positive attitude, outgoing and friendly
- Working knowledge of organizing and implementing innovative programs and activities for older adults
- Ability to initiate innovative programs and to supervise and motivate paid and volunteer staff
- Ability to multitask in a fast pace, engaging environment
- Ability to make public presentations to community groups for continual exposure, education, and recruitment of volunteers and programs for the Older Adult Center.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively with participants and volunteers; to market programs and ideas to increase member participation.
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google Docs. Internet Functions and Social Media
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to certify
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at time of hire.
SCHEDULED:
- Full-time; Sunday to Thursday, 5 days a week
- 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 7-hour day (with ½ hour unpaid break)
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $45,000 to $55,000 per year; paid hourly
