Organizational Effectiveness Practice Group Overview

We help our clients solve core types of problems that matter most, for example:

  • Integrating two companies and cultures
  • Organizations launching an investment that needs significant change
  • Need for culture transformation in regulated settings (e.g., banking), or where triggered by failure
  • Underperformance or misalignment with organisational strategy and goals
  • New leadership, organisational strategy or purpose that need to be launched
  • Not “fit-for-purpose” Target Operating Model or structure

Partnering with industry colleagues and client teams, we design organizations that thrive in disruption and bring science to achieving people and business performance goals. We believe that people are at the heart of creating positive impact. Our core European team is comprised of over 35 multi-disciplinary strategists, consultants, facilitators, coaches, and designers. We’re natural problem solvers, who think critically, share ideas, and strive to help our customers continuously drive innovation.

We are a family that love to challenge each other, stretch, and grow.

Role

Experienced professionals bring us the know-how to make lasting change for our clients and our company. We are not typical ‘management’ consultants. We provide deep industry- and discipline-specific knowledge and expertise, which amplifies our impact and helps us shape the future for our clients. Oliver Wyman is a diverse, entrepreneurial, non-competitive partnership of individuals who like to pursue new opportunities or build a unique franchise doing what they do best in a collegial, fun environment.

Your role will focus on managing projects - You will lead a team through an efficient and effective problem-solving process from initial thought process through convergence on a solution. You will ensure that recommendations are appropriate, practical, sensible, relevant and cohesive. It’s a role that demands thought leadership at the strategic level, and command of all the technical and operational details of execution in teams. You will need great communication skills, ability to grow and nurture junior team members and the ability to forge strong relationships.

Your attributes and experience

Just as every client project is different, so we recognize and value the diversity of backgrounds and skill sets for successful Associate candidates. We are seeking high-caliber individuals who want to join our winning team. Preference will be given to candidates with:

4+ years of relevant years of experience in strategy consulting or organizational development (people/leadership effectiveness, cultural change, talent effectiveness, and/or organizational design) with a strategy consulting firm/department or other similar organization (e.g., behavioral science unit, specialist HR consulting, etc.)

  • Track record of leading and managing teams, and delivering results in fast-paced, demanding environments
  • Strong background in strategic problem solving with demonstrable analytical skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, facilitation and presentation skills
  • High emotional intelligence and understanding of human behavior
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree from a top academic program (e.g., in organizational psychology / behavior, human resource management, business administration)
  • Client management experience
  • A passion for the creative process and a love for expansive and divergent thinking
  • An analytical and rigorous approach to uncovering insights
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Strong judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • A balance of humility and confidence, always seeking truth from a place of inquiry
  • Highly motivated and committed to excellence
  • Willingness to travel (once the situations allow)
  • A willingness to work inclusively with our incredibly talented team

Our Values & Culture

We’re serious about making OW a rewarding, progressive, enjoyable and balanced place to work.

Self-starters and free thinkers who work well in a team:
We are self-starting, motivated, energetic, entrepreneurial about what we do

Common aspiration, collective endeavor, shared success:
We have the common aspiration to have an impact, leave a legacy and change the world. We have no interest in running a steady-state business. We want to build, grow and shape the environment around us

Straightforward, open, respectful interaction:
We value an environment where every member of Oliver Wyman is encouraged and expected to voice his or her opinion

Opportunity without artificial barriers
: We value merit and believe that to create a true meritocracy we need to remove artificial barriers to opportunity

Balanced lives
: We value people whose lives balance work and non-work activities because we believe they are both more interesting colleagues and are able to make better contributions to the Firm. We push ourselves hard to deliver excellence, but we also work to extract the maximum benefit from the flexibility of a project-based business. We provide the ability to take career breaks for personal or family reasons. We fundamentally value each other’s time and are sensitive to how it is used. We are an output not input-based culture, have respect for people’s personal decisions, and believe that one's workload must be sustainable. We seek balance for ourselves and our colleagues.
