Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Periodontology discipline focuses on the prevention and treatment of gum disease, as well as the management of gum and tissue inflammation resulting from existing dental conditions
Position Summary
The University of North Carolina invites applications for an open-rank faculty member who will serve as a Periodontology faculty member in the Division of Comprehensive Oral Health. The selected candidate will provide didactic and clinical instruction as well as evaluation of pre-doctoral dental students and graduate dental residents in periodontics, implants and digital dentistry, including diagnosis, treatment planning, non-surgical and surgical care. This position offers outstanding opportunities for intramural practice, scholarly activities, continuing education and professional service and research. Successful candidates should have the ability to establish a robust intramural practice with the UNC Adams School of Dentistry’s Dental Faculty Practice.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
The candidate must have a DDS/DMD or equivalent degree, and advanced training in periodontology from a CODA accredited school.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
It is preferred that the candidate is Board-certified or Board-eligible in periodontology and eligible to obtain a North Carolina conscious sedation license.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
Leadership, administrative, and supervisory experiences are preferred.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
