Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 9 hours between 6:00am and 5:30pm, with a one hour lunch.
No Weekends, Call or Holidays!
Job Specific Position Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- The contractor shall assist the health care provider in the examination and treatment of patients by performing visual tests or procedures.
- The contractor shall assist a neuro-optometrist in a traumatic brain injury facility; shall assist flight personnel in the occupational vision program as required and assist as needed under the direction of the Optometrist.
- The contractor shall prepare orders and dispenses military spectacles. Fit patients with spectacles and instructs patients on contact lens procedures. Assists aircrew members in aviator contact lens and night vision goggle program.
- The contractor shall record patient case history, conduct visual screening tests such as visual acuity, cover test, pupillary testing, color vision, depth perception, visual field charting, and tonometry for analysis and interpretation. Instills approved ophthalmic drugs.
- The contractor shall perform ophthalmic functions as needed in an optometric clinical capacity.
Administers ophthalmic drops and ointment. Take ophthalmic photographs.
- The contractor shall perform periodic maintenance and calibration checks on clinic diagnostic optometric equipment.
- The contractor establishes or recommends optometry standards, regulations, policies, or procedures to ensure quality patient care in a safe, efficient, and effective optometry environment.
- The contractor shall receive and provide both informal and formal training and on the job training on neuro-optometry equipment to optometry students, medical technicians in training, nursing personnel, physicians, and other specialists relative to the types of testing, therapy, or medications that are being used.
- The contractor will assist the healthcare provider in performing vision therapy/rehabilitative activities.
- The contractor shall execute both customer service and administrative tasks through scheduling
and canceling appointments, addressing patient concerns, and updating patients’ electronic medical records.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: 1) High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency. 2) Currency in paraoptometric certification is preferred; 3) Completion of a basic optometry course, or equivalent paraoptometric training, is required.
* Experience: At least 24 months of experience working as an optometry technician within the last 36 months, with at least 12 months in neuro-optometry practice highly preferred
* Clinical Certification: Currency in paraoptometric certification is preferred.
* Life Support Certification: Possess current ARC or AHA BLS certification.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
