Job Summary:??

This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to Site Director of the Nation's Finest Meno Park CA location. The Outreach Specialist is responsible for coordinating site and city-wide outreach efforts to identify and communicate with people / Veterans experiencing homelessness. This role will contact people living in encampments, vehicles, and the streets to connect them with the appropriate resources and support. The Outreach Specialist will work collaboratively with five community organizations based in Redwood City California to support people experiencing homelessness.

Job Duties:

  • ?Provide regular and ongoing outreach and engagement to assigned areas in Redwood City and to a "by-name" list of individuals and households.
  • Conduct outreach with the lens of identifying homeless individuals in the grant area(s). This will include but not limited to: visiting areas where homeless individuals congregate, homeless shelters, encampment sites, safe parking programs, partner programs, and rural areas.
  • Engage unsheltered homeless individuals and households to establish a pathway to temporary shelter/permanent housing and linkages to homeless system and mainstream services.
  • Provide rapid response to requests for homeless outreach staff to make contact and provide support to unsheltered homeless individuals or households in Redwood City.
  • Connect with community agencies to link unsheltered individuals and households to medical, substance abuse, mental health, and detox resources.
  • Participate collaboratively as a team member in supporting clients and other outreach workers/case managers as needed.
  • Maintain client and program records in accordance with applicable standards and regulations, grant requirements, etc.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, dual-relationships, and professional stature.
  • Participate in program specific community meetings. Participate in all-staff meetings, program open houses, and other agency-wide functions.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Job Skills:?

  • Lived experience of homelessness preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate with community partners.
  • Understanding of the issues faced by homeless individuals and other marginalized populations in crisis.
  • Demonstrated experience using cloud-based platforms for file sharing, email, spreadsheets, and word processing. Intermediate knowledge of video platforms.
  • Experience with HMIS preferred.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:?

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Prior experience working with individuals who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, who suffer from mental health, and/or chronic and persistent substance abuse disorders.
  • Reliable transportation and must have clean DMV record and vehicle insurance.
  • Veteran status desirable but not required.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) language capabilities desirable.

Nation's Finest offers a four-day workweek for full-time day staff. A casual, friendly environment and ample training opportunities are available.?

$28.90 - $31.48 per hour to start—DOE and regional placement. Eligible for annual COLA based upon funding availability.??
