❑ JOB SUMMARY
- To continuously improve the quality and output of the packaging process in the most efficient and cost-effective manner by identifying, addressing and resolving packaging or process problems which restrict the performance of the packaging process and the attainment of business goals, Coordinate with Plant Engineer and Supply Chain Manager.
❑ INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager
- Interacts with all at Managerial and Supervisory Levels in Marketing & Sales, Logistics/ Purchasing, Brewery and Human Resources
- Collaborates with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers assigned to the Bottling Department
- Collaborates with Plant Inspectors and Maintenance
- Reports finished good production to Warehouse, Finance and Supply Chain Manager
❑ EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Works closely with Equipment Suppliers
❑ PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1. Makes recommendations and establishes systems that improve production efficiency on all production lines.
2. Identifies and solves recurring problems that impact line utilization, process quality and package integrity.
3. Troubleshoots packaging materials and packaging equipment.
4. Analyzes production records and identifies areas for improvement of production efficiency.
5. Makes recommendations for improving packaging quality and performance in bottling.
6. Takes corrective action and/or implements process improvement procedures for any unresolved problems reported by the Shift Production Managers or Process
7. Technicians and any other maintenance personnel.
8. Submits weekly reports on factors affecting the performance of the bottling lines and strategizes to solve ongoing problems and strategically improve line performance.
9. Analyzes the packaging efficiency reports with respect to downtime and OEE (overall Equipment Effectiveness).
10. Uses efficiency reports to focus engineering and maintenance attention on areas of the bottling lines that are responsible for line inefficiency
11. Identifies and eliminates the causes of short stops on the bottling line.
12. Analyzes reports produced by the ERP system (OB).
13. Implements plans and strategies to reduce water and chemical consumption in bottling operations wherever possible
14. Implements strategies and systems to improve plant hygiene throughout Packaging.
15. Audits the cleaning activities of bottling operations, as required, with particular emphasis on the cleaning of the bottle washer, pasteurizer and bottle fillers. 15. Monitors the performance of the line lubrication and Chemical treatment supplier on an ongoing basis.
16. Performs any other duties required of the job function.
17. Inventory of raw packaging materials
❑ QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science/Engineering/Industrial Discipline OR equivalent qualification from any other tertiary education institution in a Food Processing or
Manufacturing environment
- At least four (4) years’ progressive experience working in operations or quality assurance
- At least two (2) years’ previous working experience in packaging or similar food/beverage manufacturing environment.
- He/she must also command the respect of his/her peers, subordinates and superiors and must be a self-starter with strong communication and technical competencies.
❑ KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of computer software at an intermediate level e.g. MS Office suite and any other relevant programs
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Managerial skills
- Knowledge of Quality Management and HACCP principles
- Thorough working knowledge of Krones LDS and OEE system
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
