Job Title: Paraprofessional, Benhaven School
Salary: $17.25/ hour; increase to $17.51/hour upon completion of 3 month probationary period and $19.16 around 1 year with successful demonstration of competencies
Location: Wallingford
Hours: Monday-Friday 9:20am-4:20pm
Reports To: Paraprofessional Supervisor and/or Director
Purpose of Position
This is a full-time 35 hour a week non-exempt position. The Paraprofessional reports directly to the Paraprofessional Supervisor. A great candidate must be motivated and have the ability to work with students with autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disorders.
Responsibilities:
The following duties are assigned to this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Encourage building skills for independence
- Work with students on the autism spectrum and with intellectual disabilities
- Encourage and assist in increasing socialization
- Assist teachers in classroom settings
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- All applicants must consent to DCF/DDS background check, state and federal criminal background checks.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus, but will train the right candidate.
