About us
The Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Delivering Quantum Technologies, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) was launched in 2014 with the aim of training the next generation of leaders in Quantum technologies Research. The CDT recruits around a dozen postgraduate students per year. It provides a unique cohort experience to its students, offering a 4 year integrated programme resulting in students achieving an MRes qualification, at the end of year 1, and a PhD overall. The Centre is hosted by the UCL Department of the London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN).The LCN has strong relationships with the broader nanotechnology and commercial communities, and is involved in much major collaboration. As the world’s only such facility to be located in the heart of a metropolis, the LCN has superb access to corporate, investment and industrial partners. It is at the forefront of training in nanotechnology, and has a strong media presence aimed at educating the public and bringing transparency to this emerging science.
About the role
The Centre Administrator will provide administrative support to the running of the CDT, assisting the Director, Centre Manager and other key members of the CDT in the day-to-day running of Centre. S/he will provide a first point of contact for the Centre, and provide support with the co-ordination, including assisting with events and CDT committee meetings. The role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL thus a professional attitude, willingness to help, and ability to remain tactful and assertive are required in order to adequately execute the duties outlined. This post is offered at 0.6FTE for an initial period up to September 2024 in the first instance.
About you
You will have experience of working within large complex organisations (e.g., Universities/NHS) coupled with demonstrable experience of designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient management information systems and procedures. Effective planning, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload, meet deadlines and work under pressure, and solve problems as they arise are also required for this role.
