Position Summary:

Park Rangers are responsible for the operations and maintenance of Central Winds Park, Trotwood Park, and other City facilities/parks. You will conduct public tours, ensure the safety of guests, and help keep our parks looking beautiful. Our Rangers love spending time outdoors and do not mind getting their hands dirty!

Main Responsibilities:

Safety and Enforcement: Rangers patrol park grounds, enforce ordinances, verify permits, monitor hazardous conditions, and report suspicious activity to the appropriate agencies. You may also provide basic first aid services and handle visitor complaints.

Park Maintenance: Keeping our parks beautiful takes work! As a Park Ranger, you will be responsible for cleaning, monitoring, constructing, and maintaining areas throughout the grounds. Environmental management, debris cleanup, and aesthetic landscaping are all part of the job.

Interacting with Patrons: Help us provide public access to information about upcoming events and programs with bulletin boards, signage, and displays. Rangers also educate guests on the natural environment, pollution, and resource protection.

Events: During special events and holidays, you will help provide traffic control, area maintenance, and open/close the park. Park Rangers also ensure that rules followed by youth sports activities during park hours.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent certificate.

One (1) year professional experience in a customer service environment

Six (6) college semester hours of coursework related to parks & recreation, natural history, leisure services, or natural resource management preferred

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, other departments, community groups, and the public. Maintain and enhance the image and reputation of the City.

Physical skills: walking, standing, kneeling, bending, driving, stooping, operating concession equipment, and lifting/carrying heavy (45 lbs. +/-) objects. Must also have acceptable eyesight and hearing (with or without correction/hearing aids.)

Basic computer operation skills.

(A comparable amount of training, education, or experience substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:

MUST possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Working Hours:

Required regular working hours are Weekdays, Nights, Weekends and Holidays. Works inside and outside during all weather. Special events as needed. Hours will vary.

Pay: $14.00 per hour
