This position serves as Senior Recreation Leader in the Department of Recreation and Community Services and performs a variety of recreational program assistance tasks, which include planning, organizing, setup, supervision, and teardown of various recreational activities & events. Essential Job Functions
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Senior Recreation Leader is required to perform the following essential job functions:

Plan, organize, supervise and lead recreational programs and activities;
Communicate effectively verbally to participants, parents and community members;
Effectively monitor and lead Recreation Leader staff and volunteers;
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing to supervisor, staff and participants;
Be enthusiastic and maintain a high level of customer service;
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Abilities -
Knowledge of core areas of recreation including but not exclusive of: day camp, parks programs, preschool, youth programs, youth and adult sports, older adult programming, special events.
Previous experience in working with youth, adults and/or older adults in recreation programs.
Ability to read and follow directions.
Knowledge of, and ability to perform, basic first aid.
Desirable Experience & Training -
Currently attending or graduated from high school. College course work with a major in recreation or similar field is preferred.
Minimum one (1) year of municipal recreation experience; or any combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, ability, and skill needed for the position.
Certification in First Aid, CPRR, AED required upon hired or within four weeks of hiring.
