Job description
Job Summary: Responsible for the billing of medical claims to third party payers; Must be able to make sure payment to Patient accounts is correctly applies, makes contractual adjustments to patient accounts. Must be computer literate. Must be self motivated in getting out all types of Insurance requirements to get a claim paid. Must be able to work denied claims, appeals through to a paid status. Answers patients billing questions. Strong customer service skills. Responsible for compiling itemized hospital bills, verifying patient insurance coverage and computing patient insurance benefits. Works closely with the Admitting Office, Medical Records, and physicians' office staff. Participates in performance improvement. Must have knowledge in DDE, ICD-9, CPT, & REV CODES
Regulatory Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Previous experience as Billing Clerk or Patient Account Rep I.
Must have Medical Terminology within 6 months of hire date.
Language Skills:
Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Other languages preferred.
Skills:
Basic computer knowledge, data entry skills.
Must have Medical Terminology within 6 months of hire date.
