Responsibilities

Our Patient Care Assistants and Emergency Department Techs are critical to the well-being of our patients and have key roles in the Emergency Department's performance as well as quality improvement. Successful candidates in our department are dedicated to these initiatives, dynamic and adaptable in our fast paced environment.

The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.

The Emergency Department Technician (EDT) assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the registered nurse. The EDT provides supportive care to the Emergency Department patients and performs approved procedures per policy. The EDT assists patients with activities of daily living and assists with the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.


Qualifications


18 years old and completion of 12 college credits or High school Diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.

Certified Nursing Assistant on State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry in "non-expired" status (preferred). Patient care skills, knowledge of infection control and safety procedures, medical terminology, strong verbal and written communication skills. Requires independent judgment, a high level of motivation, accountability, flexibility, interest in patient care, and compassion for people. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.

12 hour shifts rotating days/nights. May be required to float regionally to meet patient care needs.
