Aaron Center is a premier provider of out-patient mental health services in the Scranton area. An accomplished & stable organization in operation since 1997, the Aaron Center has an established footprint in the local community.
Seeking a Patient Support Associate to serve as potential patient and current patient liaison to the Aaron Center. Provides superior problem-solving and listening ability to assist with resolution to compliance issues and patient concerns or needs. Aids in maintaining consistency in chart compliance as it applies to payer, PA State and Aaron Center guidelines.
Essential Functions:
- Front Desk Associate work:
- Welcome and assist patients to the Center by immediately greeting them, gathering necessary information and data to properly provide current and/or future services
- Conduct personal reminder calls to patients for upcoming appointment and whether there is a co-pay due at check-in
- Collect co-pays and/or payments towards patient balances for both in-person and virtual appointments
- Scan insurance card & state/federal issued photo ID to chart
- Close finances for the day by completing the “cash bag” at the end of business day.
- Check Center’s voicemail box and contact customers who left messages prior to leaving for the day
- Check corporate email account and forward to appropriate person or upload information received to patient charts
- Clear building at end of the day
- Intake Counselor / Phone Associate work:
- Answer incoming calls to the Center
- Gather and record vital information regarding patient’s reason for call and document on the proper intake format
- Review and analyze information gathered during the telephone intake for presentation to the appropriate supervisor
- Verify all information relevant to meeting the patient’s need and consult with the appropriate supervisor on a daily basis
- Verify patient demographics
- Identify patient’s needs and possible sources of help/support if patient does not meet medical necessity
- Respect and preserve the privacy, confidentiality and security of all confidential and protected health information
- Assist with preparing and facilitation of testing with patients
- Compliance:
- Encounter forms are signed at check-in and/or communicate to Quality & Compliance Department to send out forms to be signed
- File documents to patient charts and route non-billable to assigned therapist or appropriate person(s) to notify of the file upload
- Prepare Coordination of Care (COC) request letters for patients at initial intake evaluation visit
- Complete non-billable notes for all patient contact and attempted contact
- Complete non-billable note for patient’s decline of COC
- Consents are completed & signed at check-in for patients at initial intake evaluation visit to obtain-release medical information from-to other providers
- Work with therapist(s) to re-engage patients

Work Environment – Office setting, heavy use of technology, including phones, computers, and people interactions
