At NorthBay Health the Patient Transporter provides timely and efficient general transport of patients between departments. Assist nursing in preparing patients for transports and assists staff in discharging patients to private vehicles.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

• Assists patients on and off beds and examination tables utilizing the appropriate transportation device and safe patient handling equipment.
• Assures patients are properly attired and covered for warmth, modesty, and comfort during transportation.
• Verifies patient identification by checking identification band and compares patient identification with name and date of birth.
• Uses transportation devices (wheelchairs, gurneys) in accordance to established safety practices.
• Disinfects and maintains equipment throughout the hospital.
• Reports to clinical staff, any noticeable changes in patient condition during transportation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Attends mandatory in-service courses.
• Orient and trains other employees.

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Licensure: Current AHA or equitant BLS card.
• Experience: Previous experience in a hospital setting is favorable. Excellent emotional intelligence and communication. Reliable time-management and punctuality
• Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills including legible handwriting, demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to courteously interact with the public and co-workers, and presents self in a professional manner

Compensation :

Hourly Salary Range $21.72 - $24.00 (Offered hourly rate based on years of experience)
