Overview
The Associate Payroll Analyst will be responsible for end to end payroll, payroll tax, and audit reporting in Workday. This position will work collaboratively in a team environment and will lead Workday release testing, maintain Standard Operating Procedures as well as integration maintenance. The Associate Payroll Analyst must maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while providing excellent customer service to associates.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly end to end payroll accurately in Workday, timely, and in accordance to Federal, State, and Local laws for salaried and hourly employees.
- Perform various payroll audits to ensure payroll is balanced and accurate
- Maintain and update internal controls and associated processes to mitigate risks
- Update Workday employee withholding orders (e.g., child support, creditor garnishments, tax levies) timely and accurately according to various state guidelines.
- Manage uploads of time off accruals from Kronos/UKG to Workday
- Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll; continued monitoring of regulatory updates related to federal, state, and local tax
- Complete new hire and Bureau of Labor Statistic reporting
- Analyze and suggest ways to automate, streamline, and/or improve payroll processes
- Plan and organize workload around multiple assignments to manage payroll deadlines
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Payroll Supervisor and/or Sr. Payroll Manager
Education/Experience
- Fundamentals of Payroll Certification - (or obtain FPC within one year of hire)
- Certified Payroll Professional – Preferred (or obtain CPP within three years of hire)
- Two to five years of experience in a large multi-state payroll environment
- Associate Degree minimum – bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in Workday and Kronos/UKG strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skill, Abilities
- Strong knowledge of MS Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access
- Strong detail-orientation with an emphasis on accuracy, coupled with the ability to see the broader picture and create broad-based solutions
- Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels
- Ability to maintain the highest degree of security and confidentiality of information
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability multi-task
