Responsible for No direct line management responsibilities

Role Summary

Under the guidance and supervision of the Payroll Manager and Payroll Administrator, you will support all aspects of the payroll function within the RCS. This includes data input of manual timesheets through to manual payroll calculations and processing the bacs return; ensuring that the Payroll and Visiting Lecturer Ledger are administered smoothly and efficiently, accurate and high volume data input; and ensuring that all employees and visiting lecturers are paid accurately and timeously according to their contract, terms and conditions. This role is also responsible for assisting with payroll queries and resolution.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare & input information pertaining to the payroll and fee paid ledger including records and returns, monthly and annual, associated with PAYE, National Insurance,

Superannuation schemes etc. This requires accurate and fast input of hundreds of manual timesheets each month.

  • Prepare and process all payroll information in time for the monthly payroll including starters and leavers, maternity absence and pay, sick absence and pay, monthly timesheets, overtime, ad hoc payments, contract changes, bank account & address changes.
  • Perform manual calculations to determine pro-rated salaries, sick pay, maternity pay, holiday pay, court order deductions, tax and NI deductions.
  • Complete the monthly pay-run. Check error reports, amend records appropriately and process BACS payment to release funds to employees on time.
  • Update and maintain staff tax code records by processing P45 and P46 forms and EDI requests from the inland revenue.
  • Run end of month reports and process 3rd party payments on a monthly basis for court orders, pension agencies, Childcare vouchers, Unions and cycle to work scheme.
  • Process weekly payment runs for the visiting lecturer ledger. Input new starts and payment requests and process BACS payment.
  • Provide monthly reports to pension agencies for new starts, leavers, employee details changes and monthly contributions.
  • Liaise with internal staff, students and external bodies relating to all aspects of Payroll and

Visiting Lecturer ledger. Manage all telephone, email and one to one queries through to resolution.

  • Administer and submit forms for employees relating to benefits, mortgage applications etc.
  • Administer ad-hoc statutory returns as required e.g. National Statistics Office returns.
  • Maintain detailed departmental payroll analysis as required.
  • Provide analysis of payroll costs as required by the Director of Finance and Estates and the

Deputy Director of Finance.

  • Maintain and update knowledge of the financial and payroll legislation through continuing professional development.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 months
Part-time hours: 17.50 per week

Salary: £22,184.00-£25,021.00 per year
