INTRODUCTION

Under the supervision of the Controller, the Payroll Manager will be expected to outline his/her department priorities aligned with Finance organization goals. The incumbent will work proactively and aggressively to create and support an evolving payroll administration platform inclusive of the proper controls, process optimization, and staff development for the organization.


MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages and supervises the payroll function to ensure accurate, timely, and properly controlled payments.
  • Ensures compliance with all garnishment and support orders, federal, state, and local tax withholding.
  • Reconciles all quarter-end and year-end processing including, but not limited to, W2’s and 941’s.
  • Ensures that W2 and all pertinent forms are prepared accurately.
  • Responds to all internal and external audit reviews.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations and journal entries for all payroll-related GL accounts.
  • Performs standard and ad-hoc report generation.
  • Verifies employee attendance, vacation, and sick reports.
  • Improves the payroll process proactively and continuously to exceed customer’s expectations, align and integrate with human resources systems and processes, and align with accounting controls and reporting.
  • Evaluates system performance and procedures in order to identify problems and opportunities, recommend solutions, and implement changes to improve productivity and cost effectiveness.
  • Resolves non-routine payroll problems and ensures that payroll staff is engaged in reconciling issues in a timely manner with a focus on customer satisfaction, and meets all compliance requirements.
  • Provides on-going training to staff to ensure that productivity and knowledge of the overall payroll process is both maintained and improved.
  • Partner with external stakeholders HR, HRIS, Accounting, Treasury (external to the Payroll department).
  • Develops internal controls to ensure the organization is within labor law compliance, and actively addresses opportunity areas to ensure the overall compliance of the organization.
  • Trains employees on new payroll procedures to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or relevant work experience.
  • Relevant payroll experience
