We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join our team. You must be familiar with comprehensive, multi-state payroll processes and applicable laws and regulations. At the direction of the Sr. Manager of Payroll and Benefits (Total Rewards), this position is responsible for running the day-to-day payroll administration for all company locations and ensuring the processing and accuracy of multi-state, bi-weekly payroll; providing audit support for payroll and HR; performing data entry; maintaining and updating employee records. The position will also provide customer service to employees and managers with inquiries varying in complexity.
Payroll Specialist - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for processing accurate and timely planned and unplanned payroll cycles.
· Provides and reviews accurate data entry information for employees in payroll system.
· Provides customer support to employees, managers, and HR to research and resolve payroll, accrual, and timecard issues.
· Maintains payroll and related records regarding the accumulation and use of vacations, holidays, and sick days.
· Calculates and processes miscellaneous payments such as bonuses, shift differentials, commissions, and retroactive payments.
· Interprets, comprehends, and processes involuntary deductions such as child support orders, levies, and garnishments in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
· Utilizes knowledge of payroll processes/principles, FLSA, and critical thinking skills to resolve payroll issues.
· Assists with timely completion of mandatory tax documents W2s.
· Assists with ad-doc reports, including audit reports to ensure accuracy of data.
· Assists as liaison between IRS, state, city and other tax authorities including establishing new accounts related to employment.
· Coordinates and provides training of the timekeeping/payroll system.
· Assists in the testing, implementation, and maintenance of new or modified payroll systems to meet the organization’s ongoing needs.
· Inform management of sensitive issues that may require immediate attention and resolution.
· Helps ensure payroll systems, within the scope of responsibility, comply with applicable federal, state, and regulatory laws and/or regulations.
· Maintain current knowledge of laws and legislation affecting payroll, employment, and employment tax practices.
Payroll Specialist EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Minimum 3+ years of direct payroll processing/administration experience in high volume, multi-state, corporate environment.
· Associate degree or technical training preferred.
· Experience with HRIS systems, preferably Paycom and UKG knowledge
· Intermediate to advanced-level expertise in Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and v-lookups.
Hourly Range: $28.45 – 32.25 hour
