Peer Recovery Coach (Clinton Township)
Job Description
· Provide support to individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorder, while establishing a professional relationship based on trust and lived experience
· Meet individually with participants, ideally in-person. May also meet virtually, by phone, or in various community settings.
· Ability and willingness to share personal stories related to substance use and recovery
· Empower individuals to create and maintain their own recovery plan
· Ability to set and manage personal and professional boundaries
· Provides emotional and influential support while sharing connections to community resources based on participant’s needs, including self-help groups, social service agencies, and classes
· Provides resources to remove barriers to recovery while providing hope, motivation, and encouragement
· Connects individuals with life skills and resources, while acting as a role model and mentor
· Attend bi-weekly team meeting, monthly FAN Forums, and agency events related to coaching
· Complete coaching documentation concisely and efficiently
· Participate in monthly case-review sessions focusing on participant-centered care
· Maintain confidentiality of participants in accordance with state and federal guidelines (HIPAA)
· Represent the organization in a professional manner in all regards
· Maintain knowledge of all FAN programs and national trends in substance abuse prevention and treatment, including harm reduction
· Supportive of all paths to recovery
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
· 3 or more continuous years in recovery
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Must have valid driver license and reliable, insured transportation
· Must pass a background check and sex offender registry check
· Must pass a drug screen within 48 hours of being offered a position
· CCAR training, or willingness to attend 5-day training to receive achievement certificate prior to starting; attend a 16-hour CCAR Ethics class within 4 months of hire
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
· Knowledge of Google Workspace, including Drive, Sheets, Gmail, and Calendar
· Ability to lift to 25 lbs., sit, stand, bend, climb, carry, and/or reach frequently and for extended periods of time.
Compensation
· $20 per hour
· Available to work on a contractual basis (1099)
· Flexible Hours – create your own schedule
This position is grant-funded and subject to grant requirements, the funding, budget, and timelines provided within grant requirements and guidelines.
