Job description

  • Part of an adult CCBHC team with a focus on justice involved women, also experiencing/at risk of co-occurring mental health, substance abuse and physical health issues.
  • Serve women, age 18 and older, that are diagnosed with a substance use disorder, mental health disorder, or co-occurring disorders.
  • Combination of office and/or field/home-based services with potential transportation of clients using agency or personal vehicles as determined by needs and/or program.
  • Provide a wide variety of individual and group services for identified needs including but not limited to:
    • Proactively engage clients in services on an ongoing basis
    • Teach and mentor the value of every individual’s recovery experience individually and in a group setting
    • Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies
    • Collaborate with jail re-entry and court advocacy staff to gain referrals for women, and to advocate for clients with the courts
    • Possess communication skills to teach new concepts and ideas to others
    • Assist in referring and connecting clients to self-help (mutual support) groups in the community
    • Assist in building communication and social skills in the community that will enhance clients’ quality of life
    • Support the development of natural support systems
    • Possess knowledge about various mental health, substance use and physical health settings and community resources (i.e. local shelter, housing, food pantry, vocational resources, residential treatment, halfway and sober living and homeless resources)
  • Provide services in-person in office, via telehealth platforms or at the Tulsa County Jail.
  • Meet clients where they are in terms of readiness for change, current symptoms and treatment preferences
  • Meet and transport clients in the community, including homeless shelters, private homes, or outdoors, promoting confidentiality in all settings
  • Includes all duties and responsibilities outlined in primary PRSS job description.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED

  • Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) certification by ODMHSAS preferred.
  • Certified Behavioral Health Wellness Coach preferred.
  • Minimum one-year participation in local or national consumer advocacy or knowledge in the area of mental health/substance abuse recovery.
  • Must possess a driver’s license and use of personal automobile for travel. Will transport clients in personal as well as company vehicle.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who are current or former consumers of mental health/substance abuse services and with former criminal justice system involvement.
