Tennessee Maternal Fetal Medicine is a growing and dynamic Maternal Fetal specialty practice located in Nashville and the middle Tennessee area. Privately owned, our Providers and Staff are committed to providing outstanding and compassionate care to high-risk mothers and the miracles inside them.

We are currently searching for a Physician Coder/Accounts Receivable Representative with experience being a professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable individual. The Physician Coder/Accounts Receivable Representative will review and append ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes. They are responsible for outpatient and inpatient claims for services rendered by the medical provider. They will also assist with account receivable functions including billing, collections, insurance verifications and other assigned duties as necessary.

DUTIES:

  • Thorough review of outpatient and inpatient encounters (via the electronic medical records system) for services rendered by the physicians and nurse practitioners, assigning ICD-10 and CPT codes to the highest specificity in accordance with American Medical Association guidelines.
  • Collects inpatient encounter forms from the designated areas
  • Verifies services rendered by each provider ensuring that correct provider is credited
  • Conducts periodic audits of services performed by the providers checking for documentation, evaluation and management auditing ensuring that TNMFM billing is consistent with AMA and insurance payer guidelines
  • Reviews inpatient medical records for inpatient services performed by the physicians, verifying that all procedures performed are billed correctly, thus maximizing revenue
  • Assists in month-end closing not limited to charge and payment entry, account resolution, etc.
  • Clarifying information (diagnosis or services performed) by communicating with healthcare providers
  • Assists with the insurance verification process by checking benefits of problematic patients as requested by the front desk staff and assigned by the billing manager.
  • Ensures maximum reimbursement for outstanding accounts receivables contractually due to TNMFM through strategic planning and attention to detail by claims analysis, telephonic insurance and self-pay collections, and responding to outstanding debtors to TNMFM via written correspondence.
  • Account resolution (as designated by management) including working credit balances, identifying accounts that need contractual adjustments and payer trends as well as reporting any major issues and discrepancies to management in a timely manner.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- CPC or CCS coding certification required (preferably CPC-Ob/GYN)

- Claims auditing and MFM experience highly preferred

- Alpha-numeric data entry (45-50 wpm )

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including MS Word and Excel)

- Ability to navigate and manage the A/R in the practice management system

- 3 years + insurance and collections experience

- Exemplary Written and Verbal Skills

- Ability to work well with others in a team environment

- Ability to multi-task and complete assigned projects

- Minimum of 3 years-experience in the healthcare industry working in a business office environment

- Willingness to participate in continuing education training via internet, conferences, and workshops as time permits

- 1 or more years-experience with eCW is highly preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time. Some bending and lifting required. Requires manual dexterity to operate keyboard, calculator, copier, printer and other office equipment. Requires normal vision and normal hearing. May require the ability to deal with stressful situations.

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
