Candidates cannot progress with both DHEP and DCDHEP past the first stage so please only chose one to apply for. Both entry routes have the same assessment process in which you can only progress with one.
The Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) is the right route for you if you have a degree (or higher qualification such as a Post Graduate Diploma, Masters, PhD).
With a starting salary of £25,269 for the DHEP and a fully funded qualification. Assuming satisfactory performance, your salary will rise to £26,682 in your second year and £27,804 in your third. This increases each year, and within seven years of service you can expect to be earning around £41,130. Plus there is a large variety of benefits, staff associations, social clubs and a pension to consider.

About the DHEP
During your training as an officer you will also earn a graduate diploma in Professional Policing Practice, which will be recognised internationally. Your formal training will take place alongside your practical work in one of our many policing teams across the West Midlands. After an initial training period, you’ll get your uniform, join a team, and begin two years of practical learning that will shape your policing career.
Lots of your learning will completed ‘on the job’ and digitally, with your face-to-face classroom style learning based in Birmingham; there’s no need to travel to Staffordshire University’s campus. As you’re completing a level 6 qualification there is an expectation that some learning will be completed in your own time.
When you’re not studying you’ll be working alongside your colleagues on a variety of policing teams being the face of West Midlands Police in local communities, on either a neighbourhood policing team, a response team or on an investigation team helping to solve some of the most serious crimes and catch those responsible.

Have achieved a Degree (Level 6) or above in any subject at any grade
OR be in the final academic year of your degree. Unfortunately, if you do not achieve your degree you will not be eligible for the DHEP route but may be able to transfer your application to the Degree Apprenticeship route (PCDA) dependant on qualifications.
Medical/Fitness:
When applying for the role candidates must be able/ready to run the bleep test to a level of 5.4
Nationality:
Candidates from outside of the United Kingdom, must have indefinite leave to remain and no restrictions on their right to work or remain in the UK. You will be required to show your proof of work share codes with us
Residency:
Candidates are required to be UK Residents for the last three years
Application Process
National Sift
If eligible to apply, you will be sent an automated invitation email for you to complete an online National Sift process involving two exercises:
Situational judgement test (SJT)
Behavioural style questionnaire (BSQ)
You will have 7 days to complete the exercises. These can be completed in any order you prefer, and at any time of day, 24/7, during that time.
Reasonable Adjustments: The national sift is not timed, therefore no reasonable adjustments are required. It is automatically compatible with text to speech software, changes to background colour and coloured overlays.
Start dates and annual leave:
For those applying now, we anticipate a start date during late 2022 / early 2023. Due to the nature of the role and your training programme, during the first 31 weeks you will only be able to take 2 weeks annual leave and these will be allotted to you. We cannot guarantee annual leave requests will be approved outside of this time. On your application we ask you to let us know if you have any pre-booked annual leave as this may affect when you’re able to start.

Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
