Hi! We're Ethel's Bagels (soon to be Ethel's Delicatessen). Started during the COVID pandemic, we are a three-year-old family-owned business that serves bagels, sandwiches, pastries, and traditional Jewish food to the Bay Area via farmers markets, wholesale, and catering channels. We are beyond excited that our first Petaluma retail location will be opening in a couple of weeks. We are proud of our fantastic team, our community of customers, and our use of organic and local ingredients all of which contributed to being named among the "Top Bagels in the Bay Area" by the San Francisco Chronicle.

We are looking for a prep cook to join our team as we open our storefront location. This person will be responsible for cutting, slicing, peeling, dicing, washing, stirring, or performing any other kitchen duty with a wider range of food and materials, while meeting our high quality standards.

Essential Functions include:

• Follow the prep list created by the chef or manager on duty to plan duties
• Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
• Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
• Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
• Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, etc.
• Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly, with proper FIFO rotation
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the owner or manager on duty

Requirements:

• Prep cook experience preferred
• Holds a current food handler’s card and any other certification required by federal/state/local law

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly: $17.25 + dependent on experience
