Description:
Producing materials for book printing in a fully-digital book printing environment. Producing layouts for inside pages of books and book covers using Microsoft Word, Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Photoshop and other mainstream programs. Maintaining quality standards and prepress files. Transmitting correct files from server to pressroom.
Duties:
- Determining prepress requirements by reviewing work orders.
- If requested, reformatting inside pages and creating interior book layout based on clients' requirements using Microsoft Word and/or Adobe inDesign.
- Maintaining quality results by editing existing layouts and making adjustments to text as requested by client; adhering to set prepress standards.
- Reviewing clients' PDFs for common layout or setup errors
- Creating and importing graphics, scanning and enhancing of documents, illustrations, and photographs when necessary.
- Creating digital proofs for clients on time to meet strict deadlines.
- Reviewing and implementing clients’ changes.
- Locating correct work order files from file server, preparing for press and transmitting to pressroom.
Skills/Qualifications:
This position is full-time, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday. We provide a fast-paced, yet positive work environment, health benefits, 401k and compensation commensurate with abilities.
We are seeking new members for our design team who are reliable and self-motivated with a strong work ethic. You must also be detail-oriented with top-notch problem solving, time management and organizational skills. It is also important for you to have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well with other team members in multiple departments throughout the company.
This is not a remote position. We're in the process of moving; you will train and begin work in our Akron, Ohio-based-office and then transfer to our Twinsburg, Ohio office once our move is complete (estimated late summer 2023).
Familiarity with book layout, basic design, and Adobe Acrobat is beneficial.
