In collaboration with the evaluation team, the Preschool Evaluator-Special Education Teacher will provide quality evaluation and assessment to diverse populations of preschool clients and their families, using a variety of assessment tools, observation practices and effective communication.

Liberty POST is approved by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) as a continuing education provider-keeping our staff up to date in their fields. Liberty POST currently provides services to children in Central New York (Onondaga, Cayuga, Cortland, Oswego, Oneida, Madison, Tompkins Counties), Western New York (Monroe, Erie, Niagara Counties) and Hudson Valley (Orange, Dutchess and Ulster Counties).

Job Responsibilities:
  • Effectively communicates and works with related agencies, community members, clients, families and co-workers.
  • Establishes and maintains a rapport, demonstrates respect and appreciation with/for with clients/family members/caregivers and co-workers.
  • Review client information for evaluation and complete necessary forms with family in collaboration with other evaluators and current service providers about child.
  • Complete IEP direct including codes, goals, outcome summary and results.
  • Gather outside information regarding child’s performance in a variety of settings.
  • Utilize Provider Soft to record notes and evaluation results and submit evaluation write up to team leader.
  • Responsible for NYEIS submission.
  • Attends and participates in ongoing staff in-services and quarterly meetings.
  • Attend IFSP/ CPSE meetings.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree, New York State Teacher Certification Birth-2nd Grade Students with Disabilities
  • Evaluation and assessment experience required. Familiarity with a variety of preschool assessment tools.
  • Effectively communicate via phone, e-mail, in public, and in large groups.
  • Works independently.
  • Manages time and prioritizes tasks appropriately.
  • Organized; takes pride in quality of own work.
  • Evidence of independence and forward thinking related to clinical expertise.
  • Evidence of initiative, willing to give insight.
  • Open to feedback and commitment to quality of provided services.
  • Proficient on assessment tools necessary for evaluations.
  • Responds positively to suggestions/directions, maintains flexible attitude, and generates new ideas or process improvements.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client records.
  • NYS Permanent Certification (SPED or B-2 Students with Disabilities)
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to enter data into a PC, laptop, or mobile device, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend over, climb stairs/steps, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull and move, lift and /or carry up to 25 pounds to waist height.
  • Ability to drive/Walk to and from client locations throughout the day.
