Salary: Per appropriate placement on the LASA Salary Schedule (Starting at $100,000.00)

Qualifications:

  • Meet or be willing to meet the State School Administrator’s Certification or Continuing Education requirement.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
  • Master’s degree in Teaching, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field preferred.
  • Five (5) years of successful teaching experience and two (2) years of administrative experience preferred.
  • Commitment to being the lead learner in the school setting.
  • Passionate desire to work in an urban setting making a positive difference for all students.
  • Understand, support, and implement tenets of the Lansing Pathway Promise.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and leverage strengths within a team setting.
  • Established ability to prioritize tasks based on school performance goals.
  • Demonstrated experience using research-based instructional strategies that engage students (particularly EL Learners) and yield positive academic gains.
  • Validated experience with curriculum development, data analysis, and performance assessments including summative and formative.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of teacher evaluation frameworks and processes including best-practices related to classroom walkthroughs and teacher feedback.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of school improvement planning, Priority School legislation, and reform strategies.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use technology for communication, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Established ability to organize and effectively use building-based funding and staffing allocations including Title 1 and 31a.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multiethnic and multicultural learning environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to exemplify the respect and humility needed to work with all stakeholders and build strong community partnerships.
  • Commitment to learning and growing as a leader.

Performance Responsibilities:

Establishing a Culture of High Expectations in an Online Environment

  • Adopt school routines, procedures, and expectations that create an environment focused on instructional outcomes andstudent growth.
  • Develop a plan for shifting school culture that inspires students/staff to work towards excellence in academics.
  • Support the implementation of research-based climate and culture strategies including PBIS.

Instructional Leadership

  • Develop a vision of excellence for academic instruction that focuses on student learning and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and lead the implementation of research-based instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate to provide targeted professional development that emphasizes student outcomes and supports building anddistrict improvement plans.
  • Interact positively with students and staff to encourage each individual to perform at his/her highest level.

  • Conduct all personnel evaluations to offer feedback, improve competencies, and provide support that facilitates staffand student growth.

Data-Driven Leadership

  • Use data to design individual staff and student achievement goals that are rigorous, realistic, and aligned to district priorities.
  • Utilize student achievement and process data to interpret progress towards goals and drive decision making around online curriculum and instruction.

Building Administration


  • Develop daily schedules that will provide for the efficient and effective operation of the school and result in a high levelof learning for students.
  • Prepare and implement school budget in cooperation and consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of building programs that increase student achievement and staff growth.
  • Provide for the safety and security of students and staff.
  • Supervise and monitor accuracy of student records including attendance and student learning progress.
  • Organize and supervise all support service personnel for optimum school performance.
  • Plan and supervise fire, tornado, and lockdown drills.
  • Implement student Code of Conduct and maintain student discipline according to board and state policies.

Community Relations

  • Maintain effective relationships with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, and outside agencies.
  • Collaborate with parents to increase their engagement in the life of the school.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to common inquiries and complaints.
  • Assess community expectations and perceptions of school performance.
  • Communicate with community members through a variety of means (i.e., media, newsletters, and meetings).
  • Utilize community resources to support building programs and goals.

Professionalism and Character

  • Demonstrate integrity, honesty, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrate capacity to be a reflective educator and embrace opportunities for growth.
  • Recognize and celebrate faculty, staff, and students for quality work and commitment to excellence.
  • Work effectively with other district educational leaders in support of the district’s vision and mission.
  • Keep supervisor informed of school activities and difficulties.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Regularly required to use close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Must also have the ability to adjust focus.
