DAI is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal (dependent on experience) to join our busy Development Finance Institutions ( DFI) Team. This will be a full-time, permanent role. The position can be based anywhere but you will be contracted from our Hemel Hempstead office, UK.

To work as part of the Development Finance Institutions ( DFI) client focused team. The DFI Team works to catalyse public and private capital to bridge the financing gap to achieve the UN Agenda 2023 and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the 2030. At the core of that mandate is the need to catalyse financing at scale into low- and middle- income countries to address the environmental, biodiversity and cli mate crisis and achieve the cli mate targets set out under the UN Paris Agreement.

Key tasks, duties and responsibilities:

Including but not limited to:

· Delivery high quality technical expertise to grow our DFI project portfolio, deliver our projects and provide leadership to DAI’s DFI programming.

· Work closely with teams, projects, and clients to build knowledge and networks and support new business opportunities and innovative solutions across this rapidly evolving market.

· Contribute to the design, development and delivery of DAI’s DFI strategy, focusing on climate finance, innovative financing instruments and ESG / impact measurement.

· Lead business development efforts as Champion or Lead Writer of proposals in competitive procurements for DFI clients, including developing technical methodologies and work plans, as well as identifying the skills sets needed for successful delivery, and where strategic partnerships are needed.

· Contribute to the delivery of DFI projects for DAI. This will involve acting as Project / Technical Director or technical expert on programmes with a specific focus on climate finance, blended finance and ESG/ impact measurement.

· Knowledge management and thought leadership activities in the field of climate finance, blended finance and ESG/ impact measurement. This will serve both internal purposes to educate DAIs staff on the topics, an external purposes; to develop awareness of DAIs thought leadership at influential; networking events and raise DAI’s profile in the DFI market.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience:

Essential:

· A degree or equivalent in experience in one of the following areas: economics, finance, impact investment, climate finance and investment

· Extensive, demonstrable experience in any of the following areas: sustainable finance, climate finance, Paris aligned methodologies and frameworks, ESG/impact measurement and reporting, development and financing of green/climate projects, blended finance and innovative instruments, impact investing.

· Demonstrated experience in writing technical reports, technical methodologies and learning products.

· Ability to research, analyse and synthesise technical information.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

· Strong organisational skills.

· Proactive, accountable and action-orientated.

· Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally.

· Ability to be flexible, versatile and tolerant in a changing work environment whilst maintaining effectiveness

· Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

· Numerate with a high level of attention to detail

· Ability to travel internationally when possible and if required

Desirable :

· Practical experience in one or m o re of the following areas would constitute an advantage ;

- Blended finance

- ESG/impact measurement and reporting

- Net-zero strategies, TCFD and/or any other climate related reporting frameworks

- International green/climate principles, standards, benchmarks and taxonomies

· Understanding of DFI approaches to financing nature, climate mitigation and adaption in their portfolios.

· Knowledge of and networks of contacts in relevant organisations in the sector, including DFIs

· Network of specialist expertise within the sector and across a range of geographies.
