Principal Policy Officer (Engagement), Policy and Communications, Canterbury City Council
We are looking for a talented and highly-motivated Principal Policy Officer (Engagement) to lead the council’s consultation and public engagement to inform the development of our plans, strategies and projects.
You will provide best practice engagement advice and work with colleagues across the whole council to develop and implement detailed consultation and engagement plans that enable a wide range of the district’s residents and relevant stakeholders to participate effectively.
You will work closely with officers in the communications team to develop integrated consultation, engagement and communications campaigns and with external partners and key stakeholders to ensure engagement with residents and relevant stakeholders is coordinated and consistent.
You will also play a key role in the development of the council’s Corporate Plan and oversee the council’s tenant engagement work.
You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to plan, deliver and analyse consultations to a high standard. You will be highly organised, politically astute and able to write clearly and effectively for a variety of audiences. You will have confidence pioneering new and innovative consultation initiatives and utilising co-design and co-production to support engagement and the development of new plans, strategies and projects.
Experience in either communications or consultation in a public service environment is desirable.
