POSITION PURPOSE:

  • Process Engineers at Kimberly-Clark initiate design, develop, optimize and problem solve manufacturing processes in a manner that meets safety, quality, and operational performance expectations.
  • Specifically, the Engineer for this role will offer Process Engineering and technical support for our converting assets.
  • The incumbent reports to the Marinette Product System Leader.

KEY CUSTOMERS:

Sector Management, Project Sponsors, Staff Engineering, Mill leadership, Mill Asset teams, Reliability teams, and operations team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out all job responsibly in a safe manner while being recognized as a positive role model for safety.
  • Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, polices and guidelines.
  • Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel.
  • Seek, recognize, define, and solve problems to achieve unit objectives. Identify complex technical issues to determine root cause and viable engineering solutions.
  • Drive OPEX Diagnostics and support implementation plans.
  • Coordinate with the quality department the way to manage non-conformities.
  • Support the implementation of key initiatives to improve asset performance and meet team objectives.
  • Support the development and implementation of centerlines.
  • Lead development and implementation of Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Effective leader and implementer of major activities that support strategy business plans.
  • Support TM/Converting Partnership.
  • Provide support to other asset areas as requested.
  • Drive strategic initiatives for the converting department.
  • Understand and perform basic financial analysis to determine best cost options for process and project initiatives.
  • Effectively manage tools such as PI Vision, PIMs, process book, reports, etc.
  • Working knowledge of PIMS, Process Books, PI vision and strong Excel skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must possess a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Chemical engineering, Mechanical engineering, or Pulp & Paper from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong experience using manufacturing analytical tools such as statistical process control, design of experiments, process capability studies, Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and to lead a team to complete projects within required timeframes.
  • Understanding of Lean concepts with demonstrated ability to teach/develop others
  • Evidence of continuing self-development
  • Experience working with external technical service providers
  • Knowledge of recycled fiber processes a plus.
